Youth Group and CYMK

St. Anthony's has a very enthusiastic Youth Group! We have 19 active members and in 2006 the group elected to become a registered Chapter of CYMK. We encourage interaction with other local chapters and have sent delegates to both Provincial and National conferences.

The Youth Group has a very full schedule which alternates between religious instruction, stewardship and social activities. Our members participate in and facilitate many parish activities.

The Youth Group held its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, October 17th. A new Executive Board was elected and ideas for religious topics and social activities were discussed. There were some fabulous new ideas and the year promises to be a great one! A full schedule of activites will be coming out soon so please continue to check the website and Parish bulletins for details!

The Parish is starting a Young Adult's Group! Members will range in age from 18 to 30. This group will meet less frequently than the Youth Group and will focus on contempory topics that are more specific to this age group. The group will also continue with their CYMK association for activities with other Parishes. If you would like more information about the Young Adults Group, please contact the Parish Office.

Our Youth Group took part in the 2008 Gulu Walk which raised awareness and funds for the plight of child soldiers in Uganda. The day was cold and very windy but the members who participated braved through the conditions to fulfill their commitment! The 'Youth Helping Youth' fundraiser began with a video presentation of the documentary "Invisible Children" on October 10th. Through the sponorship of parish members along with a parish bottle drive, the Youth Group raised over $1,300 for this great cause!

Our wind up was held on Saturday May 9th. We went paintballing at West Edmonton Mall and then had a wiener roast and a fun evening of playing pool and Cranium!
