Upcoming Events

St. Anthony's hosts numerous activities, some of which are unique to our Parish. These activities include spiritual, cultural, fellowship, outreach and fundraising events. As we have an active and committed Parish, we find that our members respond well when asked to participate as volunteers. Our activities are generally well attended not only by our own members but by our sister parishes and the community at large.

Special Notice:

Taxation of Church Honorariums

This is a good time a year to again remind those members of our parish whose extra services our Church is able to recognize with an honorarium, that these honorariums are, unfortunately, considered to be taxable income. That is, the personal services rendered are considered to be taxable services, as opposed to say, for the reimbursement for expenditures made on behalf of the Church.

The honorarium is taxable even though the recipient member donates the honorarium back to the Church (for which a tax deductible charitable donation receipt should be issued). In most cases where the honorariums are donated back, there will likely be little if any tax cost if appropriately reported.

And for further clarification, an honorarium does not have to be supported by a T4, T4A, etc. to be taxable.

Obviously, when our accountant files our Revenue Canada Charities return, honorariums are reported as part of our expenditures, even though they are not segregated and reported by recipient.

Please contact our accountant, Ed Dvornikov, if you require further clarification.

Yours in Christ,
Dave Korzan
